Reimagining light as the new material.
As a German fashion-tech brand, for the past five years, ElektroCouture has been on the frontier of FashionTech by creating pieces that transform the relationship of fashion to technology and compel the exchange of many boundaries.
Lisa Lang, the founder of ElektroCouture, has always been fond of the miraculous beauty that light can create. Together with a group of material scientists, light architects and dream creators, ElektroCouture explores the language of light and designing for the future.
This year, ElektroCouture continues to join Aarhus Walks on Water, amazing us with The Berlin Project. Inspired by the beauty of lights, using technologies like LEDs lights and anti-electro-smog textiles, The Berlin Project is aesthetic, high-tech, and functional.
The concept behind this project is the thought of traveling to a place for the first time – in this case, specifically Berlin. When you fly into Berlin at night, the first thing to welcome you are the bright dots and lines of the city lights against the dark ground, full with the promise of excitement, the excitement which you can only experience once.
The oversized multisex knitwear design of the Berlin Coat captures the beauty of lights when you are flying above Berlin. Showing the Berlin city map in the evening in a graphically stylised and pixelated way, the design is suitable for Nordic urban wear. Knitted with extra-fine Oekotex 100-certified Merino Wool on one of the hacked Jacquard machines, this coat is lightweight and protects you from the extreme weather while also providing a soft grip.
The coat features LEDs, making it possible for the wearer to glow throughout the day, because of the high-quality battery placed inside the welt pocket. Additionally, in the pocket, a layer of special anti-electro-smog textile directs all electromagnetic radiation away from you.
