Aarhus Walks on Water premiered in 2017 and was the first event in Denmark to take fashion tech on for a fashion show. And we really walked on water – having a floating runway.
With the AWOW 2018 Fashion Show we are back to set fashion tech in motion, this time at Aarhus Harbor Square, Aarhus’ new urban space for city sports and citizen engagement. This year, our fashion show will be presented by young dancers from Planum Studios Aarhus, working with choreographers Josefine Krogsager and Nicolai Fjeldsted.
AWOW 2018 presents a twilight show with lights, colors, and sensors glittering in interlude with the Nordic light fading over nightly waves.
This year, AWOW brings international fashion tech to the runway. We are proud to present some of the best European fashion tech designers, with cutting-edge technologies in sensuous haute couture and urban wear. Meet ElektroCouture with The Berlin Project, inspired by the lights over Berlin, Joanna Hir with Vision Quest, inspired by Asian ceremonial mens’ wear, with hand embroidery in lights and colors, and Modeclix with luxurious, draped garments in 3D print.
For AWOW 2018 we also feature young and up-coming designers. Eight talented designers from VIA Design and Kolding Design School, in collaboration with Danish fashion brands Hummel, Matinique, Gu∂run & Gu∂run, Gabba og MP Denmark, present innovative and sustainable fashion for Nordic urban and outdoor life: Denim with laser-cut and embedded light, kids’ outer wear with heat pads, inflatable modules and playfully embedded lights for safety, and men’s wear in mushroom leather and rose petal linen.
Havnepladsen is open to the AWOW audience before the show, you may enjoy street food from local vendors and listen to DJ Cosmo Copenhagen, who also plays for the AWOW 2018 fashion show.

Fashion and Dance!
September 13th, 2018 – from 19:00
Havnepladsen
When dance, music, catwalk and amazing choreography are all combined, then the outcome will definitely be one to be remembered.
You will definitely be able to connect with the choice of music, the dance moves, the choreography and the entire show. AWOW2018 will be thrilling and you should expect an awesomely unique experience.
Interactive Dome
September 13th, 2018 – from 19:00
Havnepladsen
When seeing the NACHLeuchten Dome created by Nils-R. Schultze beside the runway by day, the audience already cannot help being impressed. As a dome inflated only with air, the first thing that wows people is its size.
Then it becomes natural to wonder more about this art piece created for AWOW and Havnepladsen in Aarhus. What is the purpose of it? What will it do?
